Yesterday I had some of my worst nightmares lighting an evening scene in this set. Today is a different day all together. My lovely Silver bullet from @cinemills, a 7x7 cube 6.5 KW daylight SourceMaker balloon from @skyliteballoons and a 20x20 Full silent grid that my Best Boy @robosborne hang from the trees! What a difference a day makes! 😎👊🏻

CINEMILLS Demoed 1200/1800W PAR-NEL Lighting at a Major Studio

CINEMILLS recently demoed our 1200/1800W PAR-NEL lighting, at a major studio. We were thrilled to be invited in the back lot and be part of the experience! Spectators of the tour passed by Stage 44, and they got a glimpse of the new CINEMILLS CINEMINI.

The CMC 1200/1800W HMI was born from the ingenuity of the industry 'stand-by', 1200 watt HMI PAR; CINEMILLS introduces the next generation in high output, 'household' HMI 'big guns'. The 12/18 PARNEL® is the perfect blend of PAR output and Fresnel focus-ability in one, low cost and convenient product. The CINEMILLS patent pending, PARNEL® reflector was engineered to take your household lighting package to the next level. With a 1200W, single-ended (SE) globe, the PARNEL® gives approximately 1/2 stop of additional output for the same 15 amps of input power required by a traditional 1200W PAR. When the new 1800W, single ended (SE) globe is employed - together with the Power Gems 575/1200/1800W electronic ballast - you get the best power factor correction in the industry, at 17 amps of input power, together with the brightest 'wall power' performance in the CINEMILLS line. The CMC 12/18 PARNEL® is the perfect fixture for low budget or digital content film makers.

A Closer Look at the CINEMILLS Sprinter Van

Last week, our creative team photographed the interior of the CINEMILLS Sprinter Van. Headed by; Michael McDivett (Director of Advertising), Russo Mutuc (Photographer), and Ruben Diaz (Gaffer)

Looking closely at the interior of the van, it's equipped with grip and the latest CMC technology - PAR-NEL (HMI), LEDZ, tungsten, generator, dollies, grip, expendables, and more! (Note: The van can also be customized to our clients needs.)

Using the Media Center, the team was able to bring in the van through the big sliding door, and work with controlled lighting through out the shoot. Just another fun and creative day in the office!

While setting up the van for the photoshot, the team was multitasking and getting it ready for Cine Gear 2014.

Lighting the Light

During the week of NAB Show, 2014, the company released the new and enhanced CINEMILLS website. Prior to the event, our media team was working hard designing, photographing, and touching up on content. 

In the product shoot, we dub it "Lighting the Light" - using the very best of CMC technology. The set consisted of  (2) CINESOFT, (1) CINEDISC, CINEGRIP, White Seamless Paper, clear Acrylic, and several different diffusion.

Are You in the Market for Used Lighting? Check Out CINEMILLS' - 'Reloaded'

We have some used refurbished HMI Silver Bullets 12/18k’ with a 1 Year CMC Warranty (pls see enclosed): They are “Reloaded” units meaning they have some replacement parts and are in full working condition. They vary in age but circa 1980’s or later models. 

The CINEMILLS 12/18k HMI Fresnel is the workhorse of the industry. The fixture has an excellent reputation for quality and dependability, and is available with a 12/18k respective electronic ballast. The electronic igniter is designed to provide extremely quiet operation using either ballast. Other features include CINEMILLS revolutionary shock mount lamp socket system that is designed to maximize lamp life, a unique T-Handle designed to allow easy movement of the bale, and an optional locking diffusion ear.

An HMI lamp uses mercury vapour mixed with metal halides in a quartz-glass envelope, with two tungsten electrodes of medium arc separation. Unlike traditional lighting units using incandescent light bulbs, HMIs need electrical ballasts, which are separated from the head via a header cable, to limit current and supply the proper voltage. The lamp operates by creating an electrical arc between two electrodes within the bulb that excites the pressurized mercury vapour and metal halides, and provides very high light output with greater efficacy than incandescent lighting units. The efficiency advantage is near four fold, with approximately 85–108 lumens per watt of electricity. Unlike tungsten-halogen lamps where the halide gas is used to regenerate the filament and keep the evaporated tungsten from darkening, the mercury vapour and the metal halides in HMI lamps are what emit the light. The high CRI and color temperature are due to the specific lamp chemistries.
